A gravedigger in The Hague is suspected of stealing valuables from graves, and now two colleagues are also under investigation. Prosecutors allege the colleagues helped launder money by reselling the stolen jewelry and gold fillings. The initial suspect was arrested in May and is facing charges of theft and money laundering, while the colleagues are currently suspected of money laundering related to the stolen items. Authorities confirm the thefts were limited to the Algemene Begraafplaats (General Cemetery) on Kerkhoflaan. The city of The Hague is conducting its own internal investigation into integrity within the cemetery department and has taken unspecified "appropriate measures." A hotline for concerned relatives has received sixty calls.
