The Ghana Education Service (GES) is urging the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to shift its public communication strategy regarding tertiary institutions. Currently, GTEC primarily highlights unaccredited schools, a practice the GES believes is unhelpful. Daniel Fenyi, GES’s Head of Public Relations, advocates for GTEC to instead publish a complete list of accredited institutions. This, he argues, would provide prospective students with clearer guidance and empower informed decision-making. The GES believes a positive list would be more beneficial than solely focusing on identifying problematic institutions. This change in approach would promote transparency and assist students in selecting legitimate educational providers. The GES maintains that focusing on accredited institutions will better serve the public interest.
