The recent decline in food prices in Slovakia is expected to be temporary. Prices are likely to rise again in the autumn due to a combination of geopolitical instability, increasing energy costs, and climate change. Agricultural commodity prices have been steadily climbing since the beginning of the year, with wheat increasing by a third on the American exchange. Sugar and soybeans have risen by approximately 25%, and corn by nearly 15%, according to data. The only exception is cocoa, which has decreased in price. These increases suggest an end to the current period of food price reductions.
