Finns are preparing for Midsummer by purchasing early potatoes, a traditional component of the summer and grilling season. This year, a new potato variety has become the most popular choice among consumers. Domestic early potatoes are currently abundant in supply, leading to a decrease in prices after a period of high costs earlier in the spring. According to Liisa Eronen, purchasing and sales manager at Kesko, the availability of domestic early potatoes in stores is excellent. The increased supply and lower prices are expected to make them a staple on Finnish Midsummer tables. This shift indicates a change in consumer preference within the popular potato category.
