A new Israeli cybersecurity company, Dream Security, founded by former NSO Group CEO Shalev Hulio and ex-Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, has achieved a valuation of $3 billion. The firm aims to provide governments with the tools to control and secure their own artificial intelligence infrastructure. Dream Security focuses on protecting government data amidst a growing “AI cyber warfare race.” Hulio’s previous company, NSO Group, faced significant controversy over its spyware Pegasus, which was allegedly used to target journalists and dissidents. The new venture positions itself as offering defensive capabilities, rather than offensive tools like those produced by NSO. Dream Security intends to enable governments to independently manage and safeguard their AI assets, addressing concerns about reliance on external providers and potential vulnerabilities. The company’s emergence reflects increasing global anxieties surrounding the security implications of rapidly advancing AI technologies.
