The East African Community (EAC) member states have officially adopted a comprehensive 10-year tourism marketing strategy, spanning from 2027 to 2036. This initiative, launched in Arusha, Tanzania, aims to position the entire EAC region as a unified tourist destination. The strategy focuses on boosting international visitor numbers and capitalizing on the economic benefits that tourism provides. It will guide collaborative efforts to promote the diverse natural attractions and cultural heritage found throughout the region. The EAC hopes the strategy will provide a substantial boost to their economies. This push comes ahead of hosting the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027, which is expected to further increase the region’s visibility on the world stage. The Independent Uganda first reported on this development.
