The Secretary of State in the Romanian Ministry of Energy, Cristian Bușoi, has dismissed concerns about a nuclear accident at the Cernavodă plant. This follows the Danube River reaching a historic low, just 3 centimeters from the critical level where reactor cooling would become impossible. Bușoi asserts that the plant’s safety is under control and forecasts suggest a slight rise in the Danube River's water level in the coming days. Despite this, the current situation prevents the restart of reactors I and II, continuing pressure on the electricity market. Authorities maintain that the risk of a nuclear incident remains zero. The low water level of the Danube River near Cernavodă is being closely monitored.
