The Czech Republic will implement a mandatory central registry for all dogs starting July 1st. Veterinarians will be responsible for inputting dog data, primarily during rabies vaccinations or when puppies are microchipped. The Ministry of Agriculture states the registry aims to streamline the process of locating owners of lost or stray animals. The annual cost of maintaining and operating the system is estimated at three million Czech crowns. Owners who fail to register their dogs face fines of up to 50,000 crowns, while companies could be penalized up to 300,000 crowns. The new law intends to improve animal welfare and responsible pet ownership across the country.
