The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has amended its rules regarding service credits earned by government workers who assist during elections. Resolution No. 11212-A, released Tuesday, now permits these officials and employees to utilize their earned leave credits at any point following the election period. Previously, election servers were required to claim their service credits within a strict three-month timeframe. This change offers greater flexibility and benefit to those who dedicate their time to supporting the electoral process. Comelec stated the amendment aims to acknowledge the service of election personnel more effectively. The new rule seeks to remove a previously cited inconvenience for those involved in election duties. This policy adjustment is now in effect for all future elections.
