Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently concluded a two-day visit to South Korea. During the trip, Wang declined to support Seoul's proposal for multiparty peace talks involving North Korea. This diplomatic visit followed President Xi Jinping's first trip to Pyongyang in seven years. The timing coincided with US President Donald Trump's decision to reduce joint military exercises with South Korea. Trump also expressed a desire for further dialogue with the North Korean regime. Despite these diplomatic efforts, North Korea responded by launching over ten short-range ballistic missiles. The visit highlights the ongoing tension and lack of consensus regarding North Korean security.
