Cameroon received a substantial food donation from China on Thursday in Douala, the country’s economic hub. The aid package, valued at approximately $2.96 million (20 million yuan), consists of 880 tonnes of wheat and 1,630 tonnes of rice. Three shipments have already arrived at the port of Douala, containing 880 tonnes of wheat and 552 tonnes of rice, with the final two expected Sunday. Cameroonian Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji stated the donation will significantly bolster government efforts to combat food insecurity and praised China as a reliable strategic partner. The donation is part of ten partnership actions stemming from the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Chinese officials affirmed continued support for Cameroon regardless of global changes, emphasizing a commitment to deepening pragmatic cooperation across all sectors.
