A grand festival known as “The Month of Bucharest” was a significant cultural event held annually in the city from May to June during the interwar period. The celebration was characterized by extensive and abundant festivities, attracting visitors from across the country who even received discounted train fares. A key feature of the festival was the construction of permanent pavilions in Carol II Park (now Herăstrău Park). Sadly, these pavilions were demolished, representing a major loss for Bucharest’s cultural landscape. The demolition occurred under the Dej regime, effectively erasing a vibrant part of the city’s history and traditions. The festival’s memory has largely faded, highlighting a forgotten chapter in Bucharest’s past. This event demonstrates a deliberate attempt to dismantle cultural heritage.
