High-level talks between the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) and the Border Security Force (BSF) concluded in Delhi on Thursday, June 11th, with Bangladesh expressing concerns over border killings and the practice of ‘push-ins’. Despite these discussions, reports indicate continued pushbacks of Bangladeshi nationals by the BSF. Following the meeting, twelve individuals – women, men, and children – were allegedly forced back into Bangladesh through the Daulatpur border in Kushtia district. This incident occurred shortly after Bangladesh raised the issue of these pushbacks with Indian authorities. Further reports emerged within 24 hours from Kulaura, Moulvibazar, suggesting ongoing issues. The incidents raise questions about the effectiveness of the dialogue in addressing the concerns raised by Bangladesh regarding border security and the treatment of its citizens.
