Sixteen-year-old Nahid, who lost his hand in a workshop accident six years ago in Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria, has finally received the full 30 lakh taka (approximately $28,000 USD) in compensation. Workshop owner Haji Yakub delivered the remaining 15 lakh taka following an order from the Chief Justice-led Appellate Division. The initial 15 lakh taka was previously provided, completing the agreed-upon compensation amount. Nahid was 10 years old when the accident occurred while working at the workshop. Barrister Omar Farooq represented Nahid in court, successfully securing the full compensation. This case highlights the risks faced by child laborers and the importance of accountability for workplace accidents. The legal process concluded on Monday, July 6th, with the formal handover of the check to Nahid.
