Bangladesh reiterated its call for the repatriation of Rohingya refugees during a briefing at the United Nations. Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, Bangladesh’s permanent representative to the UN, emphasized that the root cause of the Rohingya crisis lies within Myanmar. He stressed that a lasting solution to the crisis must be found within Myanmar’s borders. The ambassador highlighted the need for international pressure on Myanmar to create conditions conducive to a safe and dignified return for the refugees. Bangladesh continues to seek a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the long-standing issue. The country maintains that addressing the crisis requires addressing the underlying issues in Myanmar that led to the displacement of the Rohingya population. This renewed appeal underscores Bangladesh’s commitment to finding a durable solution through international cooperation.
