Latvia has commenced construction of a pilot project for a planned defensive fortification system along its eastern border, intended to extend through Lithuania and Estonia. Dubbed the “Baltic Defense Line,” the project aims to bolster regional security. The initial phase is being built on the Selija training ground in southern Latvia, which has undergone modernization. Latvian forces are collaborating with soldiers from the United States and Denmark on the construction. This prototype will test the feasibility and effectiveness of a more extensive fortification network. The project reflects growing concerns about regional stability and a desire to strengthen collective defense capabilities among the Baltic states. Further development will depend on the results of this initial construction phase.
