Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Trade has announced an extension to the validity period of Provisional Import Programs (PPIs) for goods intended for resale. Previously valid for 45 days for bank domiciliation purposes, the PPIs will now be valid for 90 days – an “exceptional” measure. This change aims to ease import procedures for resale goods. The announcement was made on Wednesday, providing relief to importers facing time constraints. The decision intends to streamline the process of importing goods meant for direct resale without further transformation. This measure effectively doubles the timeframe allowed for completing import-related banking procedures. The extension is expected to boost trade and facilitate smoother operations for businesses.
