Europe is facing increasingly frequent and intense heatwaves, prompting a search for solutions. However, expertise already exists in communities across Africa, which have long dealt with extreme temperatures. For decades, African communities have honed practical and time-tested strategies for surviving and thriving in hot climates. These methods, often rooted in traditional knowledge, offer valuable insights for European nations grappling with similar challenges. Rather than seeking entirely new technologies, Europe could benefit from studying and adapting these established practices. This collaborative approach acknowledges Africa's leadership in heat resilience and promotes sustainable adaptation strategies globally. Ignoring this wealth of existing knowledge would be a missed opportunity.
