The Punjab government has imposed a 30-day ban on the use and sale of camera-enabled smart glasses and disguised miniature cameras across Punjab. The order, issued by the Punjab Home Department, cites concerns over public order, individual privacy, and security risks associated with these devices. Specifically, authorities fear these devices could compromise the safety and dignity of women and children, as well as threaten the security of sensitive locations like airports, courts, and government facilities. The ban excludes commonly used devices like mobile phones, laptops, and tablets authorized by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. Retailers are also prohibited from selling these restricted items, both online and in stores. The government stated the ban is a necessary preventive measure to maintain public safety and prevent unauthorized recording and data transmission within the province. The order is effective immediately and will remain enforced for one month.
