Namibia’s National Assembly (NA) has been informed that petrol prices will now be calculated based on a seven-day average, rather than previous methods. This change aims to better reflect market conditions and provide more stability for consumers. The decision follows discussions regarding the volatility of fuel prices and the impact on the national budget. Previously, fluctuations occurred due to daily or shorter-term calculations. This new approach is expected to smooth out price variations and provide a more predictable cost for petrol across Namibia. The Ministry of Mines and Energy detailed the new methodology to parliamentarians, emphasizing its alignment with international best practices. The implementation of this seven-day average is intended to benefit both consumers and fuel retailers throughout Namibia.
