Estonia has been ranked as having the most competitive tax system within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development for the 13th consecutive year, as per the Tax Foundation’s International Tax Competitiveness Index. The country’s success is attributed to four key characteristics of its tax code. These include a 22 percent corporate income tax applied only to distributed profits, and a flat 22 percent individual income tax that excludes personal dividends. Further contributing to this ranking is Estonia’s property tax, which is levied solely on land value, rather than on buildings or capital. The Tax Foundation’s report highlights these factors as driving Estonia’s top score in tax competitiveness. More details can be found at Estonian World.
