Actress Zuzana Bydžovská is returning to Činoherní Klub in Prague with the premiere of “Tango,” a play originally written by Polish playwright Sławomir Mrożek in the 1960s. The play centers on a disintegrating family and the clashes between three generations, each with differing worldviews and approaches to freedom. The Činoherní Klub production shifts the setting of the 1960s play to the near future, highlighting a dynamic between rebellious parents and children yearning for order and rules. While initially presenting as a grotesque comedy, “Tango” evolves into a poignant drama. The production promises a compelling exploration of familial tensions and evolving societal values within the context of Česká republika. This new interpretation aims to resonate with contemporary audiences while honoring Mrożek’s original vision.
