Wrestler Oumar Kane, known as “Reug Reug,” was initially charged by a judge in Dakar for association with criminals and attempted counterfeiting of legal tender. Despite prosecutors requesting his detention, Kane was placed under judicial control, requiring him to check in with the judge every two weeks. The prosecution has now appealed this decision, passing the case to the Chambre d’accusation for arbitration. The investigation began on September 18th with intelligence received by the Dakar/Faidherbe research brigade, leading to an undercover operation on September 24th. Kane was arrested while transporting materials believed to be counterfeit $100 bills, estimated to be worth 830 million CFA francs, in a rental car which was also seized. His maternal uncle, A. B. Ndiaye, and D. Faye, described as a "saltigué" and mystic preparer, are also being prosecuted. The investigation is now focusing on a horse racing promoter identified only as "S.", who is being actively sought following statements from the "saltigué" claiming he received “black money” from him.
