Dutch football club Vitesse has successfully defended its professional licence following a Supreme Court decision. The court rejected an appeal filed by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) regarding the club’s financial stability. This ruling concludes a lengthy legal battle concerning Vitesse’s eligibility to compete in professional football. The KNVB had initially questioned Vitesse's financial position and compliance with licensing regulations. However, the Supreme Court sided with Vitesse, affirming previous judgments that favoured the club. This decision ensures Vitesse can continue to participate in Dutch professional football leagues, relieving significant uncertainty for the club's future and its supporters. The KNVB has yet to comment on the ruling.
