Two major earthquakes struck Venezuela on Wednesday, causing widespread damage and a state of emergency declaration. At least 32 people have been confirmed dead, with approximately 700 injured, as numerous buildings collapsed in and around Caracas. The first quake registered a magnitude of 7.2 and occurred roughly 160 km west of the capital, quickly followed by a more powerful 7.5 magnitude tremor. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported the second quake struck less than a minute after the first. Rescue efforts are underway, focusing on locating survivors trapped within the rubble of collapsed structures. Authorities are assessing the full extent of the damage and providing aid to those affected by the disaster.
