Radu Mihaiu, a vice president of the USR party, stated on Tuesday that Romania needs a reformist minority government to resolve the current political crisis. He indicated such a government could be formed around a coalition of USR, the PNL, and the UDMR. Mihaiu firmly rejected the possibility of USR supporting a minority government led by the PSD, citing the social democrats’ political conduct. He argued that PSD’s actions have contributed to the rise of isolationist and extremist parties within Romania. The USR official believes a reformist approach is crucial for stability and to counter growing political polarization. This position signals a potential roadblock to forming a government with the PSD as a central player.
