A new Quinnipiac University poll indicates declining American support for the level of US assistance to Israel. Over 40% of respondents believe the United States is “too supportive” of Israel. The survey also found that the Israel-Palestinian conflict is a significant factor for a substantial portion of voters – over 40% – when considering candidates in upcoming US House races. A majority, 60%, expressed the opinion that a potential war with Iran would not be worthwhile. These findings suggest a shift in public opinion regarding US foreign policy in the Middle East. The poll highlights a growing disconnect between traditional US policy and the views of a significant segment of the American electorate. The results were published by The Times of Israel.
