The United States has withdrawn all twelve of its bombers from the Royal Air Force base in Fairford, England, following a reported new threat originating from Iran. The move comes after the arrest of five British men near the Fairford base last week, suspected of plotting a terrorist attack, with one additional suspect later apprehended. Both British Prime Minister Burnham and US President Trump believe Iran is behind the potential attack. According to The New York Times, new threats have emerged, described as an “Iran-backed plot.” Sources indicate the bombers were hastily relocated, an unusual step as they typically would be moved to another regional location. The Fairford base had been strategically utilized by the United States for potential operations against Iran, a country whose Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps previously declared any involved bases a legitimate target. Iran denies any connection to the threats near Fairford and five of the initially arrested suspects have been released on bail.
