US Central Command (CENTCOM) has acknowledged that a US fighter jet targeted the stern of the M/V Ocean Molica, a vessel flying the flag of Panama, on October 10th. The incident occurred in the Gulf of Oman. According to CENTCOM, the strike was a direct result of the ship’s crew repeatedly disregarding warnings issued by naval forces. The M/V Ocean Molica allegedly attempted to breach a naval blockade imposed against Iran. The nature of the cargo and the specifics of the blockade remain unclear at this time. CENTCOM maintains the action was taken after all other attempts to redirect the vessel failed. Further investigation into the incident is anticipated.
