Uruguay’s Minister Mario Lubetkin has replaced an official within the Directorate of Institutional Relations following concerns raised after a note regarding the Malvinas Islands was sent to Parliament. The issue stemmed from a leadership vacuum within the Directorate, a position now filled by Carina Vigilante. The incident sparked criticism from the Frente Amplio (FA) political party. Lubetkin identified the lack of leadership as the core problem necessitating the personnel change. The focus of the controversy centers on the note sent concerning the Malvinas Islands, a territory claimed by Argentina and administered by the United Kingdom. This move aims to address the internal organizational issues and quell political backlash. The appointment of Vigilante is expected to restore stability to the Directorate’s operations.
