Historic sculptures – an eagle and two griffins – have been restored to the University of Bucharest's Palace after being destroyed during the 1944 bombings. The artwork, originally created by sculptor Alexandru Siminic with collaborators Teodor and Ştefan Siminic, was reinstalled on Saturday. The restoration project cost approximately two million lei. The sculptures represent a significant piece of the university’s architectural and artistic heritage. Their loss during wartime was deeply felt, and their return marks an important moment for the institution. This restoration effort aims to revive the palace’s original grandeur and historical importance. The reinstallation signifies a restoration of cultural identity for Bucharest.
