UN Police Advisor, Faisal Shahkar, met with Brigadier General Jawad Ahmed, the new Force Commander of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), in New York. Shahkar, also the Director of UN Police, discussed leveraging the expertise of UN Police in law enforcement intelligence and threat analysis. The aim is to assist the mission in evaluating risks faced by personnel and operations in Western Sahara. Discussions centered on how these skills could proactively address potential challenges. This collaboration seeks to strengthen MINURSO’s operational effectiveness and ensure the safety of its members.
