Ulaanbaatar is preparing for the new school year with significant investments in education infrastructure and logistical adjustments. This year, 653 kindergartens will operate with 100,481 children, alongside 340 schools educating 422,851 students, including 37,926 first-graders. Fifteen new schools and kindergartens have been completed, and 131 are currently under construction, encompassing schools, kindergartens, and sports facilities. A key initiative is expanding access to neighborhood schools – “Schools Near Home” – accommodating over 9,000 students, with the city funding necessary resources like furniture and technology. The city will also implement staggered school start and end times, divided by zones, to alleviate traffic congestion and deploy 359 school buses. Specialized and international programs will be offered at select schools, and a revised curriculum will be introduced for first grade, alongside a continued focus on student health programs like “Healthy Immunity”.
