Ulaanbaatar city officials have approved a second revision to the 2026 budget, redirecting approximately 400 billion tugriks from previously uncontracted projects to address pressing needs. These funds will be allocated to five key areas, including fuel for public transportation due to rising prices, winter fuel preparation for ger district households, and completion of infrastructure projects. Specifically, the city aims to accelerate the completion of five schools and one kindergarten originally slated for 2027, and finish road construction ahead of schedule this autumn. Workers in construction, road maintenance, and city beautification will continue working through holidays and national celebrations to meet deadlines. A significant portion of the reallocated funds will also be dedicated to urgently repairing the Tuul-1 sewage line to prevent potential overflows and public health risks. The city is utilizing bond funds and additional budget allocations to finance these critical improvements.
