Residents of Nieuw-Sloten, Amsterdam are raising concerns over issues stemming from a shelter housing approximately 200 Ukrainian refugees. Specifically, a group of around thirty refugees are reportedly struggling with addiction, leading to significant disturbances in the neighbourhood. Complaints include reports of drug dealing, nightly shouting, and vandalism, including human waste being left outside properties. Locals state the situation has become untenable and are urging authorities to address the problems. The refugees are housed in a former auction building on Anderlechtlaan, having arrived in early June. The escalating issues have prompted residents to publicly voice their distress and request immediate intervention to restore peace and safety to their community. Authorities have yet to publicly respond to the complaints.
