Ukrainian drones attacked a major oil refinery in the Moscow region Tuesday night, approximately 15 kilometers from the Kremlin. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed the attack on the Gazprom-owned facility, stating around 60 drones were deployed against the capital. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared footage of the resulting fire, asserting Moscow experienced Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities. While no casualties were reported, the refinery, which supplies roughly one-third of Moscow’s fuel, may have suffered disruptions. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and traffic was diverted in the surrounding area, leading to long queues at gas stations. A separate drone attack also targeted a fuel depot in the Krasnodar region, causing a fire that was later contained. Russia’s Defense Ministry claims to have intercepted 172 Ukrainian drones across 14 regions and Crimea over the preceding period.
