Ukraine is creatively adapting Cold War-era technology to bolster its drone capabilities. Specifically, an aging naval helicopter, originally designed for submarine hunting, is now being utilized as a platform to launch small interceptor drones. These interceptor drones are crucial for countering Iranian-made Shahed drones employed by Russia. The modification allows the drones to achieve altitude and range they couldn’t reach independently. This innovative approach demonstrates Ukraine’s resourcefulness in the face of ongoing conflict and its ability to re-purpose existing assets. The helicopter provides a mobile launchpad, enhancing the operational effectiveness of Ukraine's drone fleet. This adaptation highlights a shift in naval aviation tactics for modern warfare.
