Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has dismissed recent Russian claims regarding biological laboratories within the country, stating the accusations were previously examined and debunked by the Biological Weapons Convention (BTWC) member states and the UN Security Council in 2022. The rebuttal comes after former U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard shared a map purporting to show the locations of these labs. Critically, the map incorrectly places Kyiv and fabricates the existence of a city named “Cherniv,” raising concerns about deliberate disinformation. Ukrainian officials assert the map is demonstrably false and part of a continuing Russian information campaign. The Ministry emphasized that international bodies have already addressed and rejected these allegations, finding no evidence to support them. This latest incident highlights ongoing efforts to undermine Ukraine’s credibility through the spread of misleading information. The fabricated city name further underscores the intentional nature of the disinformation.
