Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has refuted renewed Russian claims regarding biological laboratories operating within the country. These accusations, alleging dangerous biological activity, were previously examined and dismissed by member states of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) and the UN Security Council in 2022. The denial comes alongside reports of a map circulated by a user named Habbard which incorrectly locates Kyiv and fabricates the existence of a city called “Cherniv.” Ukrainian officials suggest this map is part of the ongoing Russian disinformation campaign. The ministry stated the claims are false and intended to mislead the international community. This is not the first time Russia has made such allegations against Ukraine, attempting to justify its military actions. The incident highlights continued efforts to destabilize the region through misinformation.
