Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to bolster collaboration on counterterrorism efforts, combating illegal migration and human smuggling, and strengthening institutional partnerships including police training. The agreement followed a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and British Minister of State for the Middle East, South Asia and the UN, Hamish Falconer. Falconer lauded Pakistan’s role in facilitating the recent US-Iran peace deal, specifically acknowledging the contributions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. Discussions also covered addressing the issue of fraudulent student visas and Pakistan’s concerns regarding terrorist organizations operating from Afghanistan. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional security challenges. The UPSCALE Project, aimed at improving Pakistani institutional capacity, was also highlighted as yielding positive results.
