Uganda’s Inspectorate of Government (IGG) will conduct a full audit of the Busega-Mpigi Expressway, dubbed the “World’s Most Expensive Road,” following concerns of corruption and mismanagement. The investigation will be a collaborative effort involving multiple agencies. Inspector General of Government Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala announced the audit will focus on assessing value for money spent on the project. Investigators have already been working on the case for the past two years. The expressway, a flagship infrastructure project for Uganda, has been subject to scrutiny regarding its high cost. This audit aims to determine if public funds were appropriately used and to address potential wrongdoing in the project’s development.
