Uganda’s Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has formally requested 1.5 billion Ugandan Shillings (approximately $1.3 million USD) from parliament. The funds are intended to cover the costs of producing and distributing over 200,000 copies of a book titled “52 Dimensions.” This publication celebrates the life and leadership of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the current Chief of Defence Forces. The PLU produced the book and is now seeking parliamentary support for its widespread, free distribution. The request has raised questions regarding the use of public funds for a project seemingly focused on promoting a high-ranking military official. Details surrounding the book’s content and the rationale behind the large-scale distribution remain limited. This move occurs amidst ongoing discussions about political maneuvering and succession within Uganda.
