In Uganda, the United Informal Sector Forum (UISF) and Union Transport Alliance (UNION) have formed a partnership aimed at bolstering the nation’s informal economy. This collaboration, operating under the theme “Tuliwamu: Building Uganda’s Invisible Economy Together,” seeks to unite informal businesses and connect them with larger commercial prospects. UISF represents a broad range of 18 different informal sector categories, encompassing 84 associations. The initiative aims to leverage the collective strength of these numerous small businesses. By formalizing connections and creating a unified front, the partnership hopes to strengthen the overall contribution of the informal sector to Uganda’s economic growth. The effort recognizes the significant, yet often unseen, role these businesses play in the Ugandan economy. This initiative is a step towards greater inclusivity and economic empowerment for informal workers in Uganda.
