Two men from Maracha district, Uganda, have been released after being held on remand for 13 years without facing trial. Jino Enzama and Angelo Adima were arrested in May 2013 in connection with a murder case involving a man killed by a mob. The circumstances surrounding their prolonged detention remain unclear, raising questions about the efficiency of the Ugandan judicial system. Their release brought scenes of celebration in their home village of Domuru. The case highlights potential issues with pre-trial detention and the right to a timely legal process in Uganda. Authorities have not yet commented on the reasons for the lengthy delay in bringing the case to trial.
