The construction of the Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium in Lira City, Uganda, has secured $65 million in insurance coverage, equivalent to approximately Shs 236 billion. The Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC) is providing the financial risk cover. This support was facilitated through a Specific Transaction Policy (STP) issued to Egypt’s SAMCO, the contracting company. The insurance aims to mitigate potential financial losses during the stadium’s construction phase. The Akii-Bua Stadium is a significant infrastructure project for the region. This backing ensures the project’s financial stability and progress. The deal underscores growing investment in Ugandan sports infrastructure.
