The Ministry of Education and Sports in Uganda has implemented stricter regulations for international schools operating within the country. Institutions currently offering both foreign and Ugandan curricula must now select a single licensing path or fully comply with the requirements of both educational systems separately. According to Frances Atima, chief education officer for education standards and quality assurance, a compromise between the two systems is not legally permissible. This new directive aims to clarify the operational framework for these schools and ensure adherence to national education standards. The government seeks to eliminate ambiguity regarding curriculum delivery and school licensing procedures. The changes will impact how international schools in Uganda are regulated and managed going forward. These regulations were announced by The Observer Media Ltd.
