Ugandan health officials have increased surveillance and screening at borders following confirmation of an Ebola case in Kenya. The deceased Kenyan national contracted the Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease and travelled from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), transiting through Kampala, Uganda, before entering Kenya. Uganda’s Ministry of Health has assured the public that the country is currently safe, despite the transit case. Authorities are implementing heightened monitoring measures to prevent potential spread within Uganda. The confirmation follows concerns regarding regional Ebola outbreaks and the need for coordinated preventative action. Increased vigilance aims to rapidly identify and contain any potential cases, safeguarding public health. Further details are expected to be released by The Independent Uganda.
