The High court in Mbale, Uganda, has ruled that United Bank for Africa (UBA) Limited must pay over Shs 128 million to a Ugandan man, Michael Wilson. This decision follows a case concerning funds fraudulently withdrawn from an account opened in Wilson’s name by an unidentified impostor. The funds represented compensation Wilson received for injuries sustained while working in Afghanistan. Justice Farouq Lubega presided over the case and issued the order for UBA to make the payment to the customer. The ruling highlights the bank's responsibility in safeguarding customer accounts against fraudulent activities.
