Two young Ukrainian refugees, aged 15 and 20, drowned in a recreational lake near Nunspeet, Netherlands, yesterday. The victims were part of a group of Ukrainian refugees living with a foster family in the region since the start of the war. They were swimming with others from the foster family when they disappeared under the water around midday. Despite a search by firefighters and bystanders, both boys were found and rushed to hospitals, but sadly died shortly after. Authorities report the impact on the foster parents is significant, though the boys were not biological siblings. The municipality is providing support and the deputy mayor will visit the family. The older boy was a regular attendee at a local church, where he often assisted with tasks.
