Volunteers patrolling a protected nesting area in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, have discovered an exceptionally rare two-headed diamondback terrapin hatchling. The tiny turtle, weighing only 5.2 grams, exhibits a rare developmental condition known as bicephaly. This unique specimen possesses two heads but shares a single body. Veterinarians are closely monitoring the hatchling's eating habits, growth, and behaviour to assess its overall health. Further examination aims to discover the internal arrangement of its organs. The discovery offers a unique opportunity to study this rare phenomenon in diamondback terrapins.
